Rushing through her ward rounds with Sarah Evans, Ruth slips out to take a pregnancy test. It proves her worst fears - she's pregnant. Sarah offers Ruth a word of advice: trying to make it as a female surgeon is hard, and there can be no room for error. With Sarah's words echoing in her ears, Ruth goes to the pharmacy for an abortion pill.
A baby is brought into Casualty with his sick mother, Hazel, with head injuries caused as a result of a fall. Ruth impresses Sarah Evans during surgery on the baby and, to Jay's pride, invites her to the surgeons' dinner. Torn between her ambition and her feelings, Ruth has a huge decision to make - should she take the abortion pill?
Jordan's condition continues to improve, but what is his future as a doctor? Frances feels he'll be able to return to work, but only in an administrative capacity. Neglecting her work to see Jordan yet again, Zoe is confronted by a furious Adam. Hitting back, she reveals to a shocked ER team that Jordan is in recovery and that his tumour has been downgraded.
