Gaelic culture is tied inextricably with the sea, as a means of moving between islands, earning a living, as an object of celebration and fear in song and story. In 2000, Scottish singer songwriter Dougie MacLean undertook a musical odyssey. Travelling in his rigid inflatable boat from Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis, he took his music to exchange with like-minded musicians from South Uist, Barra, Harris and Lewis in this musical circumnavigation of the Outer Hebrides.
