With Holland having already secured the automatic qualification place from Group Nine, Scotland's only hope of reaching the finals in South Africa is via the play-offs. To make those, they need to finish as one of the best-placed runners-up, so three points are vital against a side who are struggling at the foot of the group.

This meeting is also an opportunity for Scotland to banish the memories of October 2008, when George Burley's men were held to a disappointing goalless draw by Norway at Hampden Park, a match in which striker Chris Iwelumo infamously missed an open goal on his debut.
