Eight British teenagers tackle sun, sea and survival in the real life O.C. Every summer, the sun-soaked Pacific Beach in San Diego hosts one of the best Junior Lifeguard programme in the world. This year the lifeguards open up a space for eight UK teenagers who are given an incredible opportunity. Coming from a range of different backgrounds, the teens live together in an amazing beach apartment having fun whilst working hard to achieve their goals and learning amazing new skills. This is the ultimate 'work hard, play hard' environment, where the dream of a Californian lifestyle meets the discipline of a tough Lifeguard Summer School.
A rude awakening on their first morning from the San Diego Lifeguard instructors sees the UK trainees put to an instant test of their physical strength and stamina. They're pitted against each other in a long swim against the crashing waves. Confident and self-proclaimed sports all-rounder Jack comes in last place, much to the surprise of most of the group.
After receiving their official uniforms, Jack and the group's most opinionated member, Aine, have already started flirting and, by the end of the day, both have ended up being pushed into the pool.
In their first morning of training, the group spend more time checking out the American eye-candy on the course, before local boy Treager demolishes them in the first race. The group are left hanging, waiting to hear if the Instructors will split them up into different groups for the remainder of the summer. Show less
