Live coverage of the Olympics, introduced by John Inverdale and Sir Steve Redgrave at Shunyi, with Clare Balding.

It is the first day of the rowing finals, featuring the men's and women's single and double sculls, men's and women's pair, and men's four. Britain has a chance of medals in five of the seven events.

Includes live coverage from the velodrome, as the medals for cycling are decided in the men's 4,000m individual pursuit, the men's points race and the men's keirin. Former rower Rebecca Romero is in action again in the women's individual pursuit, where she is also the current world champion.

In athletics, it is the women's shot final, the men's long jump qualification and the heptathlon 800, as well as the heptathlon javelin B.

Also, the medals are decided in the women's singles and men's doubles in both badminton and tennis. Including, further second round boxing action in the Beijing worker's gymnasium and Britain's women's hockey team play Japan in the penultimate match of the round robin phase of the competition.
