Athens silver medallists Nick Roger and Joe Glanfield are expected to be in contention in the men's 470, while in the women's 470, British hopes rest with Christina Bassadone and Saskia Clark.

Flatwater canoeing begins on the Shunyi rowing lake, an hour's drive north-east of Beijing. Sydney bronze medallist and current world and European champion Tim Brabants is in action in the heats of the K1 1000m.
