Children's drama series. Audition fever hits Grange Hill as it hosts an inter-schools music competition. With a prize of a trip to Liverpool and two hundred pounds, who will take the crown? Jake expresses an interest in entering but Jenny reminds him he was awful at violin lessons.
Ducket and Bryn are also keen to enter the contest, but Jenny points out one major flaw in their plan - they have no musical talent whatsoever. The boys cause a stir amongst the judges when they perform their act of complete and utter silence. Jake surprises Jenny by joining her as a double act and playing his violin very competently. Jenny is annoyed he has stolen her glory and their friendship hangs in the balance.
In the finals of the competition things hot up with Ducket and Bryn's act clinching the most votes and going onto represent Grange Hill. However there's a surprise entry when everyone realises that pulling together is often the best way to ensure success.
Bryn advises Megan to make another friend; if Serena doesn't go to Grange Hill she might find herself on her own, something Bryn knows all about. This advice plays on Megan's mind and causes her to behave selfishly towards Serena in an attempt to impress Tanya. Serena responds by double-crossing Megan, and it's not long before the two friends have fallen out completely. It takes a cunning plan by Serena's teacher Miss Green and Tanya to show them what true friendship is. Show less
