UEFA Euro 2008

France v Italy

Duration: 2 hours, 7 minutes

First broadcast: on BBC One Northern IrelandLatest broadcast: on BBC One Wales

Gary Lineker introduces coverage of the hotly-anticipated Group C clash between France and Italy in Zurich, which could prove to be one of the games of the tournament.

France will be desperate to avenge their World Cup final defeat to the Italians two years ago, when Zinedine Zidane memorably headbutted Marco Materazzi in his last competitive fixture before retirement. The two countries have developed an increasingly bad-tempered rivalry since Les Bleus beat the Azzurri in the Euro 2000 final courtesy of David Trezeguet's late winner.

Both sides boast some of the biggest names in world football - Thierry Henry and Franck Ribery spearhead the French attack whilst Italy, renowned for their defensive steel, are marshalled by captain Fabio Cannavaro and goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon.
