Spain v Russia

Duration: 2 hours, 7 minutes

First broadcast: on BBC One EastLatest broadcast: on BBC One Wales

Gary Lineker hosts live coverage of Spain v Russia from Innsbruck, as group D gets under way.

Regular underachievers Spain are thought by many to be genuine contenders for the title, thanks to its youthful but experienced squad of players. Fernando Torres scored 33 goals in his first season with Liverpool as the club reached the Champions League semi-finals, while Real Madrid goalkeeper Iker Casillas captains Spain following Raul's omission from the squad. Arsenal's Cesc Fabregas should also feature for Luis Aragones' side.

Guus Hiddink's Russia, meanwhile, qualified for the finals at the expense of England but the 1960 winners have not progressed past the group stages since 1988. Their cause will not be helped by the absence of star playmaker Andrei Arshavin, who is suspended for the opening two matches. Their hopes may now rest with Roman Pavlyuchenko, who scored both goals against Steve McClaren's side in Moscow. Show less
