Passionate Welshman and Cardiffian, connoisseur of architecture, the built environment and Restoration presenter Griff Rhys Jones takes a personal and polemical journey through the suburbs, past ring roads, into small towns and finally into rural Wales on a journey to find out the issues and who really makes the decisions about our present and the future of our built environment. Believing that town planners are really more important than architects he tackles them head on, on building sites, in cathedral-like shopping malls, in ugly out-of-town retail parks and in box-built estates. Griff also explores what he considers to be the more fundamental issues for our future in building Britain: the regeneration of brown field sites, out-of-town shopping, eco-housing, restored market high streets and 'back to the future' town planning.
