Robert Mayer Carol Concert

on BBC One London

For 50 years Sir Robert Mayer has been associated with concerts for children. In honour of his services to music, the annual Carol Concert was this year given by The Academy of the BBC
Concert Master Peter Mountain conducted by The Prime Minister Rt Hon Edward Heath, MP
As well as traditional Christmas carols, in which the audience is led by the BBC Singers, Mr Heath conducts Rossini's Overture to the fairytale 'Cinderella,' and is joined by Richard Baker as narrator in John Dankworth 's setting of 'Tom Sawyer's Saturday.'
Mr Heath talks about the carols and music, and, in a special tribute, introduces Sir Robert Mayer.
