with Thora Hird
Many of the letters Thora receives include a warm invitation for her to 'drop in for a cup of tea'. As part of tonight's programme Thora does just that, and calls in on the residents of Moorhaven Elderly Persons' Home at Taunton, for a chat about the hymns they've chosen, including many that bring comfort and light into darkness, ending with 'The day thou gavest, Lord, has ended', sung by the holiday crowds on the beach at St Ives, just as the sun was setting.
O worship the Lord (Was Lebet); Thou, whose almighty word (Moscow); The Lord's my Shepherd (Crimond); Thou didst leave thy throne (Margaret); Nearer, my God, to thee (Propior Deo); Shepherd's pipe carol; Be thou my vision (Slane); Brightest and best (Epiphany Hymn); The day thou gavest (St Clement)
