Wildlife on One

on BBC One London

Last in the series.
Springbok of the Kalahari. This moving story is built around the life of a single male springbok. A century ago, 500 million springbok roamed the arid wilderness of southern Africa.
Now their numbers are drastically reduced by disease, and their great migrations halted by farm fences. Although highly gregarious animals, some springbok spend the loneliest of lives. Kwang - the film's central character - stays alone for most of the year, establishing a territory which may be miles from the nearest herd. He waits for the herds to return with the rains, if they fall, and for his chance to mate. Narrator David Attenborough. ProducerTrevorde Kock
