The Last Post
The eighteen Mayors of the Cinque Ports (Hastings, New Romney, Hythe, Dover, and Sandwich), the Two antiente Townes of Rye and Winchelssa and their limbs corporate who are attending the ceremony, represent the ancient Confederation which for many centuries supplied and manned the ships which protected England against invasion and which was the foundation of the Royal Navy.
