An appeal on behalf of THE BRITISH EMPIRE CANCER
CAMPAIGN by LoRD MOYNIHAN, K.C.M.G., C.B.,
M.B., F.RC.S.
(From Leeds)
THE BRITISH EMPIRE CANCER CAMPAIGN was founded ten years ago to promote research into the causes and cure of cancer. It has branches at home and in all the great Dominions overseas. Both financially and in other ways it assists British institutions and individuals engaged upon lines of research approved by the Scientific Advisory Committee, a body nominated by the Royal Society, the Medical Research Council, and the Campaign.
It promotes co-operation between investigators by organising biennial Conferences, and by suitable means helps the medical profession and lay public to benefit by advances in knowledge to the fullest possible extent. It does not capitalise subscriptions, but uses them directly in the advancement of research, subject to retention of a margin sufficient to secure continuity of the work.
Many promising schemes of cancer research are now being held up for lack of funds.
