The feature film starring Irene Cara, Lee Curreri, Gene Anthony Ray, Barry Miller, Albert Hague, Debbie Allen

This extraordinary, exuberant movie about New York's seedy High School for the Performing Arts spawned a successful television series and brought fame to its largely unknown young cast. Opening with auditions for the school, the film takes a hard look at the hopes and dreams, the heartbreaks, tragedies and triumphs of the eight starry-eyed student performers struggling to achieve success during their four years at the school.
