An unusual dramatic role for Carole Lombard in this adaptation of A. J. Cronin 's novel. Anne and Lucy Lee are nurses in the wards of an English provincial hospital. When a child in Lucy's care dies through her negligence, her elder sister Anne takes the blame and is forced to take a menial post in another hospital. There she encounters the gallant Dr Prescott.
