Danger - Take Two a Day

on BBC One London

The second programme of a two-part investigation by Christopher Brasher into the safety of drugs. After the Thalidomide disaster, many countries, including Britain, set up medical committees to monitor the safety of drugs. But the drug companies still persist with massive promotional campaigns aimed at the medical profession. And we, the patients, often compound this pressure by insisting our doctors 'give us something.' And yet there is no such thing as a safe drug. There have been, and indeed still are, drugs responsible for massive disasters.
