The sitting-room of one of those bijou flats where the front door is three strides from the sitting-room fireplace. The only unusual furniture in the room is a cradle complete with baby for the age when they begin to try to talk. When the sketch opens Jack and Joan are seated in armchairs listening through earphones to their local station.
