Reformation Cantatas

on BBC Radio 3

Luther's promulgation of the 95 theses in 1517 marked the beginning of the Reformation. The anniversary of this act is celebrated by the Lutheran church on the last day of October. Bach wrote a number of cantatas for this feast day. Gott, der Herr, ist Sonn und Schild (Bwv 79)
