Simon Rattle
Born in Liverpool, Simon Rattle grew up in a musical family. His father was a talented jazz pianist with his own band, and, thanks to his librarian sister's encouragement, the young Rattle was soon bringing home scores of works such as Messiaen's
Turangalfla Symphony and Stravinsky's The Rite of Spring. Producer Johannah Smith
