on Regional Programme Scotland

View in Radio Times

by J. M. Barrie
Adapted for broadcasting by Marjorie Dence
Principal characters
Biblical narration read by David Steuart
The action takes place in and around
Bethlehem and the camp of Saul
Production by Gordon Gildard
The radio production follows closely the Perth Theatre Company's stage production under the direction of Willard Stoker , which was Riven at Perth Theatre last December.
The Perth Theatre Company is probably best remembered by listeners for its performance in the studio of The Barretts of Wimpole Street. It was started by Marjorie Dence and David Steuart in September, 1935, and has been running continuously since then.
Last October the players gave a command performance before the King and Queen in Balmoral Castle of A. A. Milne 's The Fourth Wall.
More recently they have presented Barrie's The Boy David as one of the plays they put on during their repertory season at their theatre in Perth, where there is a weekly change of bill.
