A special adaptation of Shostakovich's late quartet as a viola concerto and Britten's Two Portraits - one inspired by a schoolfriend and the other a lyrical self-portrait - are new to the Proms tonight. Hindemith's and Britten's laments are balanced by Tchaikovsky's sunlit memories of Florence. Presented by Chris de Souza.
