Why Is Elitism a Sin?
Elitism ranks marginally below terrorism and globalisation as an act to which few public figures dare admit. In the name of anti-elitism, universities offer football and media studies, public libraries are turned into "ideas shops" and the arts are under pressure to attract people who have no taste for art. But what's so wrong with elitism? Haven't all the great achievements of humanity arisen from an aspiration to be the best?
