3/4. Petula Clark profiles the French chanteuse Edith Piaf
(born Edith Giovanna Gassion ), who died of cancer in 1963, aged 47, following a career marked by dramatic and soaring performances. This edition recalls the recording in 1946 of one of her key works - La Vie en Rose - and the first of her nine tours to
America, where she fell in love with boxer Marcel Cerdan , whose 1949 death in a plane crash proved devastating for the singer.
