Having had his sights set on Radio 1 ever since it started, Peter underwent a certain amount of relevant training. He was, for a brief spell, rhythm guitarist in a group called the Undergrowth of Literature during the height of the flower power era. He also introduced and produced some pop concerts at technical college.
