Jim Wilson , a police lieutenant in a corrupt resort town, is tired of the brutal grind of his work and is about to leave for lighter duties elsewhere. But on his last day in the force a drama erupts: Janie, a bar singer, is taken hostage by her ex-lover, Frank, whom she has left for another man. A large-scale siege develops, with Jim Wilson facing the full pressures of his violent vocation....
