Cliff Michelmore introduces a preview of the Daily Mail Transatlantic Air Race which begins tomorrow morning
More than 300 competitors are out to win 160,000 in prize money for the fastest journey by air between the G.P.O. Tower in London and the top of the Empire State Building in New York City. Royal Navy and R.A.F. strike aircraft, Boeing and VC 10 airliners, executive jets, and light aircraft are being used in the race, which takes place nearly fifty years to the day since the first non-stop Atlantic flight by the pioneer aviators Alcock and Brown.
