Libretto after Moliere
The daughter of a rich landowner, Geronte, has feigned dumbness to escape marrying a man of her father's choice. The woodcutter, Sganarelle, finds himself forced to play the part of a doctor, and he works a marvellous cure' by hoodwinking Geronte and enabling Lucinde to marry the man she loves.
