Max Beckett is a crime novelist who has built his reputation on being a retired
Scotland Yard inspector. Nicki Page is a young obituary writer for the San Francisco press who is just itching for her big journalistic break. When Nicki witnesses the murder of a young woman - only for the body to disappear and the police to doubt her story - she seeks Max's help. But as the mysteries pile up, the biggest mystery is how this unlikely duo ever get on.
