Commentaries from the Isle of Man by Raymond Baxter at the Grand Stand, Douglas, and John Bolster at Cronk-ny-Mona
This year the British Racing Drivers' Club Race for the British Empire Trophy is in a new form. Up to now, this classic in the British motoring calendar has been open to racing cars only. This year, however, the events will be for sports cars in full road trim, after the pattern of the Le Mans Twenty-Four Hour Race and the R.A.C. Tourist Trophy. The race is of particular interest to motoring enthusiasts, now that the Jersey Road Race has been cancelled, as with the Ulster Trophy Race and the Tourist Trophy Race over the Dundrod Circuit in Northern Ireland, this event provides one of the all too rare opportunities to see real road racing in the British Isles.
