A visiting Danish orchestra displays its country's rich musical talent with Nielsen's thrillingly demanding concerto and the dramatic recent symphony by Per Norgard, whose music is new to the Proms in the year of his 70th birthday. Completing the bill is Brahms's first symphony, a bold mixture of original and Beethovenian elements. Presented by Andrew McGregor.
