Curtain Up: Stiffelio

on BBC Radio 3

Tomorrow evening, Radio 3 relays Verdi's Stiffelio from the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, with Jose Carreras in the title role. Hugh Macpherson asks Carreras, Sir Edward Downes and the Verdi scholar Roger Parker why the opera, composed just before Rigoletto, remained virtually unknown until this revival.
