International Motor Racing: The GKN Daily Express Silver Jubilee Trophy Meeting

on BBC One London

Introduced direct from Silverstone by Barrie Gill

Twenty-five years ago Alberto Ascari won the first International Trophy meeting at Silverstone in a Ferrari. Who will win the Silverstone Jubilee race this afternoon? The Brazilian world champion Emerson Fittipaldi heads the Formula One entry with his Lotus team-mate Ronnie Peterson from Sweden. Their chief rivals will be Jackie Stewart in his Tyrrell Ford and Mike Hailwood's Surtees which holds the Silverstone lap record at 133.72 mph.

Today's race at Silverstone will give spectators and viewers a chance to see the top speed of the 1973 Grand Prix cars on Britain's fastest circuit.
