Travel Talk
' Middle Europe'
5—' The Black Forest'
VINCENT ALFORD
In this beautiful corner of south-west Germany, an ancient land of rolling pine-forests clothing the tops of high mountains, the life of the people depends almost entirely on wood. Away from the holiday resorts miles of forest paths wind their way in the darkness where the only sound is the ring of the wood-cutter's axe and the song of the saw.
This talk on the Black Forest will be illustrated hy. sounds of felling timber which were recorded in Germany specially for school broadcasting.
