Academy Award-winning drama, screened in conjunction with the International Year of the Family programme shown earlier and starring Shirley MacLaine, Debra Winger, Jack Nicholson
Aurora Greenway is an attractive widow whose main problems in life are fending off an alarming number of suitors - including womanising ex-astronaut Garrett Breedlove - and keeping her headstrong daughter Emma in check. But as the years pass by, both women's attitudes to life, love, and each other begin to change. The film won five Academy Awards including Oscars for best picture, best actress for Shirley MacLaine and best supporting actor for Jack Nicholson.
