1: The American Military Base in Hawaii, 3 December, 1941. As the Japanese air-force prepares to invade Honolulu, the American personnel go about their daily lives. Midge Forrest is caught in a troubled, loveless marriage to Jason-a dedicated senior officer. All around them affairs, racial tensions and military in-fighting create dramas which are soon to be overshadowed by the Japanese invasion.
