Monday was Mr. Maggs' birthday, so Mrs; Maggs made up her quarrel with him and agreed to .look at some flats. Sally came to stay at Virginia Lodge for her last week in England and I hoped this would cheer Mother up. But unfortunately her cold grew worse and on Wednesday we persuaded her to spend the day in bed. She got up for tea the next day and seemed in better spirits though she decided not to go to the theatre with us after all.
