Sunday Feature: George Buchanan - Not for Burning

on BBC Radio 3

Hot-tempered Renaissance poet and writer George Buchanan was the shocking political thinker who contributed to the downfall of Mary Queen of Scots, and the religious dissident who barely escaped the Inquisition. If he's almost completely forgotten now it's because he wrote in the language of educated Europe - Latin.
Robert Crawford, using his own translations of Buchanan's poetry, introduces us to him.
