There are eight teams from around the world competing in this four-day event, now in its seventh year. The teams are Ireland A, Ireland B, Wales, Scotland, Canada, The Rest of the World, England and Australia.

In this afternoon's first-round match Wales, seeded fourth and winners in 1979 and 1980, take on Scotland.
