The Ulster School, which is the subject of this broadcast, is popularly known as ' Inst '. It was founded in 1810 as Belfast College and Academical Institution, and it can now boast of a splendid tradition and many famous old boys. Among the latter are Lord Kelvin, the great scientist ; Sir Samuel Dill , the well- known classical scholar ; Sir Joseph Larmour , formerly M.P. for Cambridge University and a distinguished mathematician ; Lord Perrie, the ship-builder ; and Sir Almroth Wright , the physiologist.
