Shadow of Suspicion
In the aftermath of war the focus remains on the Gulf.
However, through that time there has been an untold story happening in Britain. It is that of the foreign nationals who, suspected as potential Iraqi sympathisers or terrorists, have been detained, deported or forced to live with the threat of internment, pursued as the 'enemy within'. Joan Bakewell talks to these UK residents and asks if it is possible to strike a balance between safeguarding national security and protecting individual freedom.
