The proposer is John Mac-donald, QC, opposed by Chris Brasher. Each advocate calls his own witnesses, cross-questions his opponent's, and argues his case. The jury votes at the beginning and end of the trial so that any swing of opinion may be measured and a verdict reached. Producer KAY EVANS
