In the small town of Lonely Dell, on the banks of the Paria river, Travis, a grizzled solitary westerner, operates the only barge crossing on the river. Three strangers arrive in town, hire the barquero and his barge - and then take him prisoner to await the arrival of gunman Jake Remy and his band of marauding outlaws.
