First of two talks by Professor Gwyn Jones
The eleven medieval tales known as The Mabinogion ' are among the masterpieces of Welsh prose. The manuscript collections in which they are contained were compiled in the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries, but there is little doubt that much of the material is primitive and pre-Christian in origin. Professor Gwyn Jones has recently collaborated with Thomas Jones in a new translation of these tales into English.
