The future of maps by D. P. BICKMORE
Maps are used to convey much more than simple location. Economic. demographic, and scientific information can be conveyed by graphic display provided the data are ' stacked ' on the map in a convenient way. The speaker. who has been involved in the production of the recent Atlas of Britain, describes current developments in cartography-the collection of data, the need for speed and accuracy, and experiments with new techniques including the use of magnetic tape and television screens.
