3: Between Courses
For some 35 years Lassus directed the musicians of the Bavarian court, whose duties included the provision of musical entertainment at meal times.
Today's menu includes such solid fare as settings of Petrarch and Du Bellay, as well as saucy chansons, frothy Trinklieder and highly spiced Neapolitan-style moresche. Alongside more recent performances are historic recordings by Paul Hindemith and Nadia
Boulanger.
