Rafael Kubelik, the celebrated Czech conductor, left Czechoslovakia in 1948 after the communist coup d'etat. He was Musical Director at Covent Garden 1955-58.
In this programme he discusses his life and what music means to him in both a personal and a universal context, his views on opera and modern music, and how best his contribution in music can help the situation in Czechoslovakia today.
