The parish of Ness at the northern tip of the Hebrides remains a stronghold of Gaelic culture, with new songs, poems and stories adding to an ancient oral tradition. Mary Smith , a schoolteacher and traditional singer from Ness, explains how the culture is maintained and describes life on the peninsula through song.
