Trio in A (c. 1853-discovered 1924) for violin, cello, and piano played by Eda Kersey (violin)
James Whitehead (cello)
Kathleen Long (piano)
Lovers of Brahms will be particularly interested in this evening's contribution to the series of Brahms's piano trios, when the Trio in A (companion work to Trio in B, Op. 8) will be given its first broadcast in England. The work was discovered by Dr. Ernst Bücken at Bonn in 1924 and was performed in public for the first time at the Rhenish Chamber Music Festival in the following year.
